Artificial
Artificial light
Shines from the screen
I hold above my face.
"Ow!"
I don’t even know how
I dropped my phone.
Even gravity must be
Out for me.
My grip was weak, and
Now my forehead aches
...At 3 AM.
Let’s pretend I don’t
Have an exam tomorrow morning.
Well, technically, later today, I guess.
Whatever, the point is that
I would rather watch
Another Worldstar fight compilation
Or listen to another album
Or read another Tweet
Or get into another forum argument,
Than shut my eyes,
Go to sleep, wake up,
Go to school, go to work.
Eat. Drink. Breathe.
And at the end of the day,
Lie back in bed only to dread
Having to do the same thing
The next day. And the next. And the next.
And the next I don’t want to think about!
So I keep staring at
Artificial light.
