and so we burn the earth
No compass is as honest as the night
to lead you from star to star from
moon to tide to ocean from the
heart of the West to the gems of the East, but
this world has been so clouded by sunshine
from eons of a masochistic worship of light
that we've developed a fear of the dark so powerful
we can not stand to see the constellations as they shroud the sky in their dim blaze.
And So We Burn The Earth
in an attempt to counteract the beautiful effects of its black might-
and we wait
every night
in shadow
for the sun to rise.
