I Think Not
I am from a mind
Filled with terrible thoughts,
I try to replace them with happy memories,
And my mind says,
“I think not.”
I am from a mind,
That says “you’re fat,”
“You’re ugly,”
“You’re not worth it,”
People tell me
“You’re beautiful,”
“You’re smart,”
I try to believe them
But my mind says,
“I think not.”
I am from a mind
That loses my train of thought,
By the beat of music
Music is the sound of joy during hard times,
Sunshine on a rainy day
Those few minutes of drowning
Out the voices in my mind
But they come back,
My mind saying,
“I think not.”
I am from a mind
That fills my head with
Bad dreams,
No sleep
And night terrors,
I would wake up
Screaming and crying
Telling my mind to stop.
But my mind has a
Mind of its own,
And would say,
“I think not.”
I am from a mind
I wish i could control,
Take power over,
Get rid of these nasty thoughts,
But my mind says,
“I think not.”
I am from a mind
That produces tears
That i try to fight back .
But my mind
With a mind of its own
Says,
“I think not.”
I am from a mind
That will be over run,
That will be taken over,
By happy thoughts ,
And smiles.
I’m going to take charge
of my own thoughts.
When my mind tries to take over,
When my mind tries to create flashbacks,
When my mind says,
‘You don’t control your thoughts, I do.”
I’m going to face my fears and say
“I think not.”
