Chills Through My Spine
On this warm, sunny day
With my room bathed in light
And my person covered in blankets
I shiver.
I shiver as if it’s the dead of winter
On the darkest of nights
With no stars in the sky
And the streetlights gone black.
Who's to say I can’t
That I must lower the hairs on my arms
Rid myself of these goosebumps
And say goodbye to those thrills?
What if I like them
The feeling I get when I listen to that song
When I watch a certain horrific scene
Those chills I get when I see him in the halls?
I let my shivering take over
I’ll just sit down and freeze
With my skin paling every second
And my face dripping with rain.

I wrote this when I was shivering for no apparent reason in 80 degree weather. As I was writing, I thought of some of the different reasons for why I get the chills that aren't because of the cold.
