Many little sea turtles want to race to the ocean,
unaware of the countless obstacles that lie ahead.
They hustle along the sand to the shore, moving
faster, faster, and faster.

Threatening birds stalk from above, casting dark shadows
over the tiny, innocent creatures.
The shimmering sun shines onto the sea
whispering promises to them.
The wide-eyed turtles admire that sparkling, greenish blue sea,
only from a distance, as their eyes fixate
on the aquatic hues luring them in.
But first, they must overcome the sandy path they are traveling on.

As the frenzied, intimidating birds swarm up above,
the vulnerable turtles make their daunting, first attempts
to scuttle across the beach and reach the ocean; each one
trying to escape
one at a time.

Each baby turtle aims to survive and leave the beach
successfully swimming into the depths of the sea.
