Red
All I see is red.
Swarming in my head.
Like bees crowded at a nest,
The anger pounding at my chest.
All I see is red,
As the anger is constantly fed
With every feeling stuck inside of me
Desperately grasping to set free.
All I see is red.
Keeping calm is what I dread.
My mind races rapidly with rage,
But the anger is forever trapped in its cage.
All I see is red.
Suddenly patience is hanging by a thread.
My eyes scream with outrage,
As my temper starts to disengage.
All I see is red.
The bandage has now been shred.
The feeling of anger overwhelms me.
My composure is gone completely.

I decided to compare the intense feeling of anger to that of the color red, which is often associated with it. The feeling of anger inspired my poem because I noticed that it is a very complex emotion that often has many highs and lows and self depricating repercussions. I wanted to embody what it really feels like to be engulfed by this intense emotion in a way that alters one's daily life until they finally break.
