The caved in room. How ashamed I felt to be in its presence.

Learning the sounds “s” can make, makes me feel like a crushed flower.

Coming back to the caved in room, it now feels like an open field.

The author's comments:

Throughout my life I was enrolled in speech therapy ever since I was a kid. I wanted to describe how I felt throughout my journey and show the reader the lengthy time it took to reach a certain point. I wrote this Sijo in my creative writing class as we learned and research about Sijos. I find this form of poetry very inspiring and encourage others to try writing Sijo too.
