Here comes the ice cream truck coming around the bend

I have a few dollars and a couple of friends

Get two chocolate fudge pops and one orange cream

And the others prefer the daily specialty

And there were having fun not knowing what’s to come

That some of us will leave and some will find freedom

Not knowing the trouble will come our time

We just knew that right now we were fine

All that started on a street of Mainville Road

I can hear the silence and the very specific tone

Johnny was a young boy not knowing a thing

But he loved being active and loving everything

Then came his girlfriend that gave him a false look

On a love that you see in a fairytale book

Then came the weed and next the depression

Being told to have a high expectation

Getting through what he can at a slow rate

Not knowing what’s to come for his fate

All that started on a street of Mainville Road

I can hear the silence and the very specific tone

Diana didn’t start out good with her parents being gone

She was so lonely that she could write this song

Then found love that didn’t seem oh so great

She wanted out, she wanted to find the gate

Ran away after grad with a boy that same her

She ran into the arms of her bright and clear future

She forgot where she came from and that’s good

Forgot about all the friends that understood

All that started on a street of Mainville Road

I can hear the silence and the very specific tone

I can hear the dogs bark and the birds sing

I could smell moms homestyle cooking

Out of all the harmonies and melodies

I remember the good old memories

With my friends riding up and down the road

Searching the pond for brown spotted toads

Now that I see the past I now feel so old

Seeing the world from a different view is it get cold

All that started on a street of Mainville Road

I can hear the silence and the very specific tone

The author's comments:

When I was growing up, I only had my mom and a few friends. As we grew up, we didn't know what life would bring us. This poem talks about two of my friends and how peaceful it was when we were kids playing on that small street.
