i feel like the reason.
there’s somethin’ about arizona
that i can’t quite comprehend.
i don’t know if it’s you i miss or
my feet across desert sand.
maybe the days where i’d wake up
to discover you still at home.
where you’d kiss my forehead goodmorning, and we’d
watch cartoons in pjs all day long.
i guess im trying to tell you
that i miss you and our life.
my daddy left without a word,
left me without a goodbye.
i thought you were the strong one,
with the heart so big and wide.
now i see i was mistaken, but tell me,
was i the reason you left my side?
you taught me my abc’s
on the days you were around.
and i had mommy fill in the gaps
when you were out of town.
it’s been ten years but i still wonder why
you left that night in may.
was it me? could i have said something?
yet, what could a five year old say?
i guess im trying to tell you
that i miss you and our life.
my daddy left without a word,
left me without a goodbye.
i thought you were the strong one,
with the heart so big and wide.
now i see i was mistaken, but tell me,
was i the reason you left my side?
you never took the time to realize,
once you walked out that front door.
but it’s alright, i still love you, daddy.
but im not your little girl anymore.
