I'm a free woman
I loved you both equally
I did you wrong similarly
Call me an idiot cause I don’t learn from my mistakes
Patterns repeating in their same old way
A man intervened, tempting me with his drug
confusing necessity and desire
all over love
For one month or even a day
I’d keep secrets from you and you’d call it betray
But I’m a free woman, I do what I want
Men can’t have control over my decisions
I’m a free woman, I get what I want
And neither of you can be satisfied
with the way I love or the love I can’t provide
I know
I was wrong
And justification doesn’t own up
I can smoke a plant and be okay
But offering my mouth as exchange
is where I went wrong
I can leave this town and start a new life
with a promise to return, that’s alright
But when I sleep with a man while saying my heart is yours
I’m looked upon as a whore
and not the girl you’ve been yearning for
It’ not okay
It’s not alright
I make mistakes
and I don’t think twice
But at least I have my freedom, and I give you my honesty
Accept this reality
that your fantasies
won’t ever come true
Because
I’m a free woman, I’m not here to stay if I wanna move away
I’m a free woman, your love can’t keep me around
I’m not grounded to the floor you surround
I do what I want
I get what I want
and no love can change my mind
Whose ever love it is, it still won’t change my mind
Willingly free
The bittersweetness makes my heart ache
But I’m liking the taste
And even if a teardrop falls every now and then
I still know
that out of all I’ve done wrong
I made the right decision this time
I’m a free woman, I do what I want
Men can’t have control over my decisions
I’m a free woman, I get what I want
And neither of you can have your will or your way
I leave, I won’t ever stay
I do what I say
And neither of you can have your will or your way
I leave, I won’t ever stay
I do what I say
