Wingless Angel
Your dark eyes don't forgive
Nor leave my body, praying
Was this the way you meant to live?
You've forgotten what I'm saying.
Yet those dim eyes tell a story
A lonely one at that
And all the while they drew me in
To that table where you sat
(chorus)
A rose, a bright red thorny mess
Is you, regretting nothing
You can't see beyond my faded dress
Cuz I'm the angel with no wings
Somewhere out there your lies are made
In scattered, distant clouds
Your red, I see, begins to fade
But the thorns remain so loud
A cherub sits among the garden
As angels come to dance
They look at me, plucked from thorns
And sing, "Oh, tonight there's not a chance"
A rose, a bright red thorny mess
Is you, regretting nothing
You can't see beyond my faded dress
Cuz I'm the angel with no wings
