Love's Picture
I've always heard love comes to you
But I've never seen that come true
I read 'bout true love stories
But could never picture me
Is there some heart-breaking catch?
Should I just wait for my match?
Is it fate to be lonely---
No holder for my heart's key?
Should I give up on love,
Waiting for my turtle dove?
Is the world now so bleak
That I've lost all I seek,
And my chance for happiness
And my true love's kiss?
I've always heard loves comes to you
But I've never seen that come true
I read 'bout true love stories
But could never picture me
Emptiness is my heart---
Does no one have its chart?
Am I alone in this world---
Love never unfurled?
Is there none that I like
That won't bring me three strikes?
Oh, how could, how could
I see my beauty and all my good
When I look in the mirror, eyes hard,
With disappointment on guard?
I've always heard love comes to you
But I've never seen that come true
I read 'bout true love stories
But could never picture me
And if I can't see myself
As a person worth any wealth:
How can I look beyond,
Asking those of who I'm fond?
And if the mirror brings me tears
'Cause I notice all I fear:
How can I ever be happy
When I wanna just be snappy?
I've always heard love comes to you
But I've never seen that come true
I read 'bout true love stories
But could never picture me
So is love really true?
Does it really come to you?
Can I wait impatiently
For the one meant for me?
Next time I'll read the stories---
This time, picturing me.
