Writing It My Own Way
I’ve always been a believer
An ever-lasting endeavor
Always passed by flowers
Without seeing their prickly thorns
I’d just run circles for hours
But once you came
I had no one else to blame
I thought you changed me
How naïve could I be?
(Chorus)
Cinderella never had to fetch her own shoe
The little mermaid never made her way out of the blue
Without a prince to save the day
But I’m writing my own novel
I’m writing it my own way
You tried to set me in my place
And then you faded into space
So I’m searching for words to say
So I can write it all my own way.
(Repeat Chorus)
I believed your lies
And all your deceiving smiles
While you reassured you still cared
But now you’re out of my life a mind
Like a torn out page that had never even been there.
(Repeat Chorus)
(Bridge)
You stared into my eyes
Fed me spoonfuls of lies
Then you found someone else
I found it ironic
That you had to pick
The girl whose name had rhymed
Yeah, her name rhymes with mine.
(Repeat Chorus)
