Forgetting Reality
You were dancing with
A damned damsel
Replacing anything you could
Have felt from
A world that was too real
A drunken night you
Spent alone could have
Had another option
Besides waking up with
A hang over and a blank memory
And I can’t breathe
Your secondhand smoke
Has surrounded me
Your alcohol
Has drowned me
For the last time
You quit your job
Cause you don’t see the point
A future that you
Said could wait
Has burned into the ashes
You stopped paying rent
Like no one would notice
Broken bottles
Scattered the floor
Mixing with fresh blood
I can’t breathe
Your secondhand smoke
Has surrounded me
Your alcohol
Has drowned me
For the last time
I wish I could tell you
This to your face
Every second you thought
Was a dream
You had lived
All those meaningless events
Were real
But you no longer breathe
Your Smoke filled lungs
Alcohol drowned throat
And glass broken skin
Are all that remain
