There can be no society without poetry, but society can never be realized as poetry, it is never poetic. Sometimes the two terms seek to break apart. They cannot.<br /> -Octavio Paz

I consider a lot of words,
as if they swim in my head.
And now, rapping is my bridge
to what's been begged to be said.
It's pleasing to be without you,
at least for the moment.
I built a house upon your heart
and then you foreclosed it.
I made the shift from lover
one notch over to poet,
And even with my pen,
the ladies find me heroic.
I hated my high school;
beliefs were something to hide.
But why should I be shunned-
because I feel God is inside?
(No thanks)
My life is moving forward,
truth on my mind.
Yeah, you cut your life short
just to save you some time.
Seize the day to guide your way
and then you'll be fine.
The pain from pride and anger,
I left them behind, me.

I found love
on the tip of my pen.
I put the point to my heart
and then I began
a new day.
I trust myself to be true.
The times I kept
my hands to myself,
I wish I gave them to you.

You are a human,
blessed with inner light.
Know that you are only hindered
by the minutes of your life.
I know I sometimes fail,
but let me live to make it right.
I strive to empathize,
but I still suffer shorted sight.
Now, stand and grab
my hand my brother.
Let's march and spread the truth.
You have a special purpose
that will put you to use.
Society was built by man,
yet, your life is a choice.
You are able with hands
and equipped with a voice.
So my people, please,
listen to the lyrics.
I only want to break through to you
in my hopes that you will hear it.
Give as a gift,
This joy is too great not to share it.
I express it through hip-hop and
through my speakers I will blare it.
Love, love,
as overflowing as the oceans.
I know even as a man
I gravitate towards positive emotions.
My cup is empty.
With wisdom may I be blessed.
Speak daggers, street preacher,
Teach me to death, and let me live.

I found love
on the tip of my pen.
I put the point to my heart
and then I began
a new day.
I trust myself to be true.
The times I kept
my hands to myself,
I wish I gave them to you.

I've been tapping for a while, but now I'm communicating. The fusion of poetry, a message, and a beat.
