How You Said Goodbye
I remember our place,
The way the wind blew,
As you sat next to me.
The songs,
The stories,
The memories we did make.
The way you sang to the cheesy love songs,
Playin’ on the radio.
While we watched the firefly fly up into the night.
Just close your eyes,
Remember those notes we sang.
Just close your mouth,
and listen to the words I say.
Just stand so still,
Remember how you said goodbye.
Don’t you leave me, not right now,
I can’t be in the dark.
The war between us just keeps raging on.
Think of the good times,
when we were one,
even when the songs stopped playin’ on.
Just close your eyes,
Remember those notes we sang.
Just close your mouth,
and listen to the words I say.
Just stand so still,
Remember how you said goodbye.
Just close your eyes,
Remember our life,
Remember how you said goodbye for the last time.
