Hope Is More Than a Four Letter Word
The night seems to own the day.
Darkness engulfs the last,
of the light.
May I ask,
That eyes don't seem as bright?
All I do now, is look to the wind.
and Wait for the day I take my flight.
Now I keep saying.
It doesn't get better.
Pain engulfs the days.
It doesn't get better.
No matter what the positive says.
It doesn't get better.
I hope I don't give up.
A little old man once told me.
"Why quit life now?
There's so much ahead.
I really don't get why people love to lay in bed.
Why not take a walk?
Fall in love.
Take advantage of life,
In every way.
Why not enjoy each and every day?"
I looked at the man quite honestly.
Not knowing what to say.
In awe by his wisdom, and honesty.
The words he said sunk in.
From his wrinkly face.
To his wrinkly chin.
I wish I couldn't say this.
But the old man has died.
and Even as much as I cried.
I swore,
I would enjoy each and every day.
It's quite funny.
How a persons perspective.
Can be turned on it's head.
By a few words that have been said.
But I really have to say.
I'm thankful of the words everyday.
Woah now,
It seems I'm preaching
To the choir.
A boy once under,
This thinking process.
Is the one telling others to take a second chance.
But it seems, the wiser.
Is the supervisor.
To all of these monstrosities.
Now I would like to say.
It does get better.
Day by day.
It does get better.
I hope you won't second guess.
It does get better.
Time will clean this mess.
It does get better.
Just don't give up.
You might be questioning this now.
But the future ahead will show.
That all the things I say now.
Will be the words you know.
They'll make you grow.
