Overthrown by Reality
I don’t know how to put this into words
Without it sounding absurd
There are many quotes people write
To try to reason with reality
They fail to grasp anything but insanity
No one seems to believe in perfection
What they can’t see
It’s just a deadly infection
A temporary state of mind
That ends once they decide they want more
Careful now, you’re nearing the edge
Looking for a hand to hold
Stepping off the ledge
You want to see how many rotten apples
You’ve been fed
You want to taste a ripe one
How different are they?
Is one perfect?
Or was that just a fantasy
Overthrown by reality?
You don’t normally listen to the rain
It always stays the same
You’re just waiting for the day
When everyone can see it too
They fear anything they can
They grasp everything within reach
They’re fascinated by the incessantly renewed aspects of life
But ignore what can never been seen again
It doesn’t make any sense
They seem to love the mirror
They seem to loathe what’s in it
They just ignore what’s beneath it
But the less something can be proven
The more real it seems to be
