Wildfire
VERSE 1:
You made the list, but you weren't just a number.
I wanted things to be so different this time.
You were so great, so I always had to wonder
how it was possible you seemed to be mine.
VERSE 2:
It started out fine, but I was still in shock.
We had something that caught like wildfire.
For some reason, I thought you could be my rock.
But you can't trust hope 'cause life is a liar.
CHORUS:
It started with a smile,
and we talked for a while.
Then we had a few dates,
and just when everything was great,
it all came to an end
when life happened.
I don't know what was real,
and I can't speak how I feel.
But what's worst of it all
is I knew I was gonna fall,
and it happened so fast,
and I thought it would last.
I thought it would last.
VERSE 3:
Why did we make all these plans for the future?
'Cause when it all ends, all the plans become dreams.
I tell myself I'm fine 'cause more lies can't hurt.
Present becomes past faster than it seems.
VERSE 4:
I can't believe I put my heart on the line.
Gave you all my hope like only a fool would do.
You would think that I've learned better since last time.
But there was so much I liked about you.
CHORUS:
It started with a smile,
and we talked for a while.
Then we had a few dates,
and just when everything was great,
it all came to an end
when life happened.
I don't know what was real,
and I can't speak how I feel.
But what's worst of it all
is I knew I was gonna fall,
and it happened so fast,
and I thought it would last.
But it didn't last.
(Overlap with Bridge 2 on third repeat, end with fifth repeat)
BRIDGE 1 (Fast) (x5):
Hugs and handshakes and seductive eyes.
Sneaking kisses instead of goodbyes.
Days blurred together 'cause we spent all night awake.
You burned a hole worse than wildfires make.
BRIDGE (Slower) 2:
I just want to sleep until I don’t feel anymore.
So when I don’t wake, don’t be afraid.
I don’t know how to make this okay.
No promises of lies will be made.
CHORUS:
It started with a smile,
and we talked for a while.
Then we had a few dates,
and just when everything was great,
it all came to an end
when life happened.
I don't know what was real,
and I can't speak how I feel.
But what's worst of it all
is I knew I was gonna fall,
and it happened so fast,
and I thought it would last.
I thought you would last.

I wanted it to sound like a Mayday Parade song, lyrically. But I got all my feelings into it, so I don’t know what exactly it feels like. Bridge is kind of like All Time Low. Verses can be read in a Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger” verses tune, but don’t have to.
This song is as true as can be.
