Vanity
Pretty girl wants to be perfect
Skinny boy wants to be thin
I never really question my religion
But is vanity a sin
Insanity is true beauty
Only in the lover’s eye
After all I’ve gone through
I think I’ve lost my mind
Life has killed the living
And living has raised the dead
When I look in the mirror
All I see are my regrets
All the words with blades and edges
Have cut straight through our lives
From the moment I was born
I was just waiting to die
Shards of glass on the counter
And screams in our head
We’ve been up all night thinking
About what they said
Blood turned to ashes
And ashes turned to light
All the childhood stories
Turned into a suicide
Pretty girl was never perfect
Skinny boy was much too thin
I spoke with God this morning
And He said vanity is a sin
