Sailboat
Your shadow has stayed long by my door
I've been wary to let you in for sure
But I can feel my guard is breaking down
So slowly breaking down
The way you caught me
Ever so gently
When I needed you most
That's not making it easy to let go
But when I look at you
Your eyes shift slowly up and down
Ever moving, ever changing
Like the tide
You are not meant to stay down
You will not swim by my side
When you could learn to fly
Darling, I understand why you have to go
But that doesn't make it easier to know
You don't need me here and now
And like a sailor on a sinking ship
I will surely drown
And like a sailboat with a leak
I can feel my guard is breaking down
So slowly breaking down
And when I look at you
Your eyes shift slowly up and down
Ever moving, ever changing
Like the tide
You are not meant to stay down
You will not swim by my side
When you could learn to fly
Darling, I understand why you have to go
But that doesn't make it easier to know
Your voice has whispered long into my ear
I've been wary to let you near
But I can feel my guard is breaking down
So slowly breaking down
Now when I close my eyes
I see you standing there
You in your black coat
All alone on your sailboat
And everything's alright
But I am not by your side
Because you are leaving
With the morning tide
Ever moving, ever changing
Like the tide
You are not meant to stay down
You will not swim by my side
When you could learn to fly
Darling I understand why you have to go
But that doesn't make it easier to know
And you could learn to fly
You could learn to fly
But I can feel my guard is breaking down
So slowly breaking down
