Different this Time
Verse 1:
Her father left when she was young
And ever since she’s been on the run
Chasing after guy after guy
Longing for the love that she craves
Her innocence she trades
But in the end they always make her cry
Chorus:
She looks in all the wrong places
Search all their faces
Just to see what she finds
And she says “it never fills me
But maybe it will be
Different this time, this time
Verse 2:
He says he just needs an escape
Spending hour after hour with his video games
Because when he turns off the TV the fantasy fades
The anger, the emptiness it all returns
But really all it is, is purpose that he yearns
Chorus:
He looks in all the wrong places
Searches all their faces, just to see what he’ll find
And he says “it never fills me, but maybe it will be
Different this time, this time”
Verse 3:
You might live in a broken home
Or maybe your family has always been whole
But we all get that ache in our hearts
What can satisfy your soul when the world falls apart?
Chorus:
We all come to a place where we
Look into His face, just to see what we find
We say “this world can’t heal me, but
I know I will be with a love that’s divine”
Bridge:
Our Father says, I love you so much,
I’ll give you my touch
Heal the deep wounds in your heart
He says, "I can satisfy your soul, I can make you whole
When the world falls apart"
(chorus)

Looking to God doesn't mean all of our problems will disappear, and of course, in cases of broken families or the loss of a loved one, there is a lack of human attention and love that we all need. However, God can help to heal us. Even though we can't physically feel Him or see Him, and it doesn't feel the same, He can heal is in a way that no other human can do, and that's what this song is all about.
Though the lyrics and tune are original, JJ Heller was my inspiration, as her writing style and deep thinking helped me while I was forming this song.
God bless!
