Lost, Lost, I cry to thee
Heedless you pass directly by me
Wait, Wait, listen I beg
If you are wise, you'll hear my story.

Once, Once I had great power
Riches and gold adorned my bower
Greed, Greed consumed my soul
Yet I thought it my finest hour

My Heart, Heart, conceited with might
Had no room within to let in love's light
Wretch, Wretch I morphed, became;
Riches are nothing, oh pity my plight!

(Refrain):
I'm lost! I'm lost! Nowhere to call home
I'm cold as death and hard as stone
I'm lost! I'm lost! Shattered apart!
Betwixt and between, I wander alone

Blind, Blind, the world is now gray
Once it was rich in colors of day
Now, Now all life is naught
Darkness keeps the light at bay

Dull, Dull, no feeling inside
First I was bitter, later I cried
Shant, Shant my wealth breed joy?
Yet soon from my wealth, my spirit died

So, So, learn from my sin:
Be selfless and kind, do not let greed win
Else, Else, you'll share my fate:
Shrouded in riches, yet barren within

(Refrain):
I'm lost! I'm lost! Nowhere to call home
I'm cold as death and hard as stone
I'm lost! I'm lost! Shattered apart!
Betwixt and between, I wander alone

The author's comments:
Greed has been the downfall of so many great people, and sadly, we don't always learn from their mistakes. I hope people will be able to apply the dramatic scenerioes in the poem to everyday experiences, and maybe learn a lesson too.
