The Dying Wick
When I'm alone with you/ Everything seems blue/ Counting stars has lost it's touch/ And nothing can compare/ Our long summer days/ That once revived our inner flame/ Has now come and gone/ Winter stands before us/ And the cold found it's way in/ You stare at me with foreign eyes/And deep down inside/ I'm trembling/ Now what we thought would last forever/ Turned out to be wrong/ Your love for me has met it's wick/ Our candle takes a last deep breath/ And you're quick to blow it out/ With it all said and done/ You shake my hand/ And leave the mess/ With thoughts renewed/ And adventures ahead/ I can't help but grasp our still-warm wax/ And try to make amends/ What I don't understand/ Is why you left a hand/ When surely all I needed was a friend.
