The Bird and the Beast
Insecurity:
An untamed lion in its cage
Feeding thoughts of worthless flesh
Now rapacious, full of rage
With every bowl of lies
It only makes it stronger
No matter what you feed it
It will never end it’s hunger
Confidence:
A bird perched in the tree
So beautiful, so full of hope
As content as it can be
Your friends sprinkle encouragement
Into your fearful hands
And Confidence swoops in to feed
Your shoulder is where it stands
Though often times the lion roars
And your confidence takes flight
With more and more encouragement
It will soon stay, that’s right
You hold the key to the cage
In which the lion sleeps
Neglect it, don’t feed it
And it will barely peep
But keep the bird that whispers
Singing songs into your ears
Songs of hope, truth and wisdom
Words that power over fears
Though two are very different
In strength and in size
The one that you feed
Is the one that survives
