“You do not write your life with words...You write it with actions. What you think is not important. It is only important what you do.”
― Patrick Ness, A Monster Calls

“Here's what I think," I say and my voice is stronger and thoughts are coming, thoughts that trickle into my noise like whispers of truth. "I think maybe everybody falls," I say. "I think maybe we all do. And I don't think that's the asking."
I pull on her arms gently to make sure she's listening.
"I think the asking is whether we get back up again.”
― Patrick Ness, The Knife of Never Letting Go

Hey there, don't you cry

The sun will shine

Do you know why?

Smiles are beautiful

And they look beautiful on you

I wish I had a mirror

So you could see it too

But I don't want to see a mirror

For right now I'm afraid

i don't want to see myself clearer

And for the smile... don't even bother to wait

For if I look into a mirror

If I look and try to smile

You and I will both finally know

That the wait wasn't worthwhile

Hey there, why don't you smile?

I know it's hard

And it may take a while

But smiles are beautiful

And they look beautiful on you

I wish I had a mirror

So you could see it too

But my smile has been lost

I've buried it in the ground

I'll never take it out again

You'll never hear a sound

About my lost smile

Never will I speak

Because smiles are for the strong

But all I am is weak

Hey there, try to be strong

It may seem like you're weak

But I know you've been strong all along

And smiles are beautiful

And they look beautiful on you

And if I had a mirror

Then you would see it too
