Once upon a quiet summer night

When all the world had fallen into rest,

Moonbeams played in effervescent light,

Wrapped in midnight blue within their nest.

Could only hear the treading of our feet,

A solitary cricket chirping clear

A sprinkler gently dripping on concrete,

The rumbling of engines far from here.

Memorized your face that very day

Pin-straight hair swept out of hazel eyes

The prettiest smile effulgent as sun rays

Countenance expressive as the skies

We haven't talked since I fell out of love

I kind of hate the person you've become.
