Only Sand
The heart of man is like the sea
As reckless as storms and riptides
Their wild eyes long to be free
The salty breeze their only guide
I find myself among the waves
Alone by the glorious sea
Within our sorrow we’re all slaves
Ashamed of what we’ll never be
We bring our burdens to the coast
Let them wash away in the flood
And we return to empty ghosts
Doubts diminished, covered in mud
But beauty is not found on land
And no one longs to gaze at sand
