i was not looking when i first found you,
rather our meeting was sudden, unplanned.
from the moment we talked, i quickly knew
that you would be the one to understand.
i gave you some skittles for your birthday
we ate them together in the band room.
afterwards, you said you wanted me to stay
i did, knowing my family would fume
late facetime calls, eyes slowly close
we find comfort in each others silence.
your presence relaxing, i start to doze
quickly ends as mom approaches, that tyrant.
now i must leave you with a heavy heart,
hope you think of me when we're apart.
