What can stop growing—BOOM!—the storm within?

Oh, how laughs she make can warm; Her voice such

Breeze by which my heart all sings—enliven;

Her smile the sun post-rain buds soak, seek, touch.

But my every flower, candy, letter,

Sit cold, ignored, as still reject rings clear,

Still I tell her jokes and still forever

Her laughter don’t return; heartbreak’s austere.

There once stood a stream and strong plateau, then,

Rock rocked downstream, currents rolled miles high,

Storms raged, eons ebbed and flowed, ruts dug, when

I cried, why, Nature, canyons must divide?

  Yet rejection storms like nature, and thus,

  Acceptance paves the only way robust.

The author's comments:

Teenagers often have to navigate through many rejections in their lives, whether it be of romantic nature or college admissions. So, I dedicate this sonnet to anyone, especially teenagers, that was once rejected.
