Mosaic
Spices flood their plates
Piled high with a wondrous aroma
Bagged and sold which reinstates
The merchants’ symbolic diploma
Voices carry through the air in a cacophonous symphony
accents and languages mix
From all of this is the epiphany
floating to me through candle wicks
The concept of unity—
A concept so pure isn’t what the word became
The way we are is that of community Rather than being the same.
Society’s a mosaic
And in the market you see us collide
