For My Nana
They asked if I wanted to speak today;
I could not find the right words anywhere.
Many volumes upon the table lay,
my sources exhausted with naught to share.
And so I turned to paper and a pen
to explain just how great my nana was.
I did not trust it to another when
they did not know of all her goodness ‘twas.
Where’s Waldo books and a seat next to her-
all it took to keep me still as a kid.
Angel pins, aprons, burnt smells were for sure,
her love for us all seemed to have no lid.
We’ll always be surrounded by your love
as long as the sun shines down from above.
