Throned Beauty
Soft petals cling easily to their stem
The sun bathes them with light from high above
Dew sits on the flower and shines like gems
Its deep red tones bring forgiveness and love
A crooked green stem mothers jagged thorns
Green shards of glass waiting to prick fingers
Despite the danger its beauty adorns
Nostrils fill with a sweet scent that lingers
From field, to florist, to my dearest home
A lone beauty travels in pale paper
It is silent, still, a king on his throne
Sitting gracefully between lit tapers
The table is set, a candlelit meal
A single red rose, to show how I feel
