The game of chess is oft compared to love
Emotions played upon a marble field
Are moved along by players from above
Through each advance new feelings are revealed
Their love reflects the outcome of the game
The victor of the match wins more than pride
Was over when the knight met ashen dame
The victor of this match has won a bride
But should the kingdom fall to forced resign
And win but twice against a streak of ten
Yet what makes chess so perfect and divine
The pieces can be set back up again
It matters not if one has lost or won
Because the game itself was half the fun

The author's comments:
I've never been fortunate enough to experience a serious relationship, however, I have observed that love is like a chase, a game if you will. The pursuit is whimsical, full of flirtation, a simple smile, a quick embrace, a light peck.
I have therefore conclude that love is like chess; when the game ends, simply set the pieces back up.

So true.

I suppose, this poem is from my own personal experience. I have also found that "clingy" people should move on; it is healthier for their mentality and perhaps they may find happiness in the future.

Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed my work. :)

I love it! Some people would disagree with your conclusion though... I don't cuz I'm not a clingy person but clingy people would disagree but this isn't their poem is it?

Love it keep writing

Haha I loved this one!  That was an excellent comparision, I can definitely see that.  I love the last couple of lines, about how the pieces could be set back up again.

Oh, and I didn't mention this on the forum--could you check out either my story in the fiction forum or one of the two in the nonfiction forum?
