The Most Unfortunate
Thick and slimy is my feel,
I can feel emotions, sensations passing through my head.
You would not know, but my thoughts are real.
Yet they cannot be said.
They tell me I’m filthy, disgusting.
My embraces unwanted and few.
Louder and louder I can hear them screaming.
“Get him off of me, Ew, Ew!”
If you only knew what it is like to go forever unheard,
To be ignored, stepped on, and
Then to hear every hurtful word,
Then, my friend, maybe you will understand
What it is like to be the most unfortunate bug;
The forgotten banana slug.
