Two Faced
My heartbeat uneven as I peered right
In your eyes; the girl looking back I did
Not recognize. I was not her, but might
She be me? And she desired to rid
Me of this world. My thin hands shake hard-
Too weak to support me. I wonder aloud,
“What did she do that I became so scarred?”
My second face gleamed only now more proud.
Two paths faced two faces, easy death and hard life;
At that crossroad it was shown, which path came
With redemption and the other with strife.
That day I took back my face- free of blame.
For that I thank He who gave up his Son-
I came close to death but through Him I won!
