Paradise Lost
After a late night doing homework when
I'd rather be asleep, my bed is bliss;
It ushers me into a world of zen,
Where peace abounds and nothing is amiss.
There's not a thing I love more than my pillow -
Each night my trusted pillow's cool and soft,
And I adore my blankets as they billow
Around me like a tranquil sea of cloth.
Then suddenly I hear a screeching sound!
Must my alarm disrupt my calm repose?
With heavy eyes I wake and rise, school-bound,
And night's sweet poetry yields to day's prose.
No matter what delights the day may keep,
At six a.m. I only want to sleep.
