A pretty face can trick the praising eye.
It oft’ does not reflect the heart within
Cause beauty’s paradigm does not comply
To rules for painted cheek and waist pulled thin.
Allure rests solely in the simple skin
That’s altered new each day to correspond
To sexy, cute, and fun; your charming twin,
With hope a sir might notice and respond.
But content can’t be guessed by gazes fond
Without a look into the crux secure
Where beauty true and solid love is spawned,
Sincerity of soul and virtue pure.
Evade the foolish fall for posed veneer
But search yet deeper into merits mere.

The author's comments:
Beauty has come to describe shallow attractive qualities, but it should be about something more than that, the rich qualities of the heart.
