Father to Daughter
If you ran away what would you hope to find
In this great beyond you seek far from here
I want to be unchained from ties that bind
And hold me, so sidelined by my own fear
Where would you go, what would you hope to see
What is worth more than your own safety
I seek not to be safe, but to be free
And find that very wise naivety
To travel so very far, far away
To have the courage to lose sight of shore
You always seem to want to go astray
And lose me now, and then, forevermore
I love you for wanting me to stay here
And I promise I will never disappear
