The Beast within
The flies spoke to me saying it is us
We are the ones that are causing much pain
Our thoughts and ideas they are monstrous
They changed over time for personal gain
Soon after leaving I have reached the top
The beast before me is no beast at all
I wretch I untie I run I don’t stop
I must tell the others I hear their call
They are the ones who should hear this the most
I will go tell them whatever the cost
Rugged and tattered I fall on the sand
The dances and chants bring sorrow and death
I yell and scream at the feeling of hands
But my cries have fallen on ears turned deaf
I have been disposed of upon the beach
I see the light and I know who I’ll meet
The last of my moments are within reach
The land of murder is now at my feet
The sea brings me forward I do not fight
I will be welcomed in the land of light

It was originally for an assignment on Lord of the Flies, but it still holds true for human nature and the real world around us.
