A Chance
Can we call what we have an admiration?
Does the sweet look in your eyes come from above?
Is it something more, a deep sensation?
Is the sparkle in your smile from above.
I keep telling myself that it can’t be,
for too long I’ve denied my affection.
I’m just a dog, barking up the wrong tree.
The unknown hurts more than any rejection.
All the opportunities I missed,
I think back on us with quiet regret,
All the times we could have blissfully kissed
Of all we could be, but just not quite yet.
I was too afraid to give you a chance,
I was too afraid to give you a chance.
