For My First True Love
From the moment I first laid eyes on you,
that moment clearly etched into my mind,
my then sweet, naive heart completely knew
what true love was, and how it left me blind.
Oh, how simple it all seemed in my head,
Love was love- that's what I thought mattered.
At no time I thought you'd leave my eyes dead,
heart and soul left completely shattered.
Since then, I was left a very hollow being,
Love's faith gone, never to exist again.
I lost some of my humanity for my well being,
emotions connected with love, down the drain.
This sonnet's for the first person I'd loved
Whom I deeply regret having beloved.
