The Burning Sea
I love the way she sings to me beside
The sea. We lay and watch the universe
Unfold and burn and burn and by the tide
We realize where we are, and that worse
Things have happened, but we have nothing left.
And the tide rises above our heads. We
Know that we’ll drown but we don’t care for theft
Of youth. I know that she will sing to me
Beside the sea. After it submerges
Us both beneath its crashing waves and she
Holds onto me as we cascade and surge
Throughout the sea. All the while, we are free,
Hold hands, and crash like waves. She sings for me
I sing to her, beside the burning sea
