I’m a technology addict, and I love looking at the newest products. When I got my hands on to the Apple AirPods, I knew that this would be the perfect product for me, as I have been looking for a pair of wireless alternatives to the classic earbuds for a long time. The AirPods are Apple’s first attempt at wireless earbuds, and they are exclusively designed to pair well with Apple products.

Getting the AirPods at the store was a very quick process.  I walked into Best Buy, and I left with the AirPods in less than 5 minutes; this made the process of getting the actual product very quick. There are a plethora of different stores that sell these AirPods, so getting a hold of them should not be a problem.

I got home, and I immediately looked at the design of the box. It was a sleek, white, and wrapped in plastic. I carefully opened up the box, and inside was an organized area with the AirPods, the charging case, and the charging cord. Below these laid the directions for the set-up and use of the AirPods. I took everything out of the box, and used the directions to set-up the AirPods to my iPhone.

The set-up process was quick and painless, and within the minute, I was enjoying my music. All it took to set-up the AirPods was hitting a button on the charging case, and then it automatically connected to my iPhone after accepting the new device to my iPhone’s bluetooth.

Right away, I could tell the major difference in sound between the AirPods and the normal headphones. You could hear every little sound, and difference in pitch, which you could not do with the normal headphones. This was very apparent when I decided to listen to several different Queen songs, and I heard voices and instruments that I did not hear originally, making my listening experience superb.

Apple specifically re-designed the AirPods to produce much better sound quality, and the effects of this effort is very apparent, and very appreciated. This is great considering the $150 that is needed to obtain the AirPods, really proving their worth. The bass was a lot more noticeable and the listening quality in general was much improved.

As much as I love this product, it still has its drawbacks which made me believe this product has two separate issues that could make potential purchasers wary. For example, one of the biggest problems is the price. The cost to obtain these are a massive $150, which is tremendous amount considering the fact that they are just wireless headphones. With a price like that, you truly expect a vastly superior product, which Apple seemingly delivered. There are many cheaper, off-brand options that can provide the user with a very similar experience, without spending all of that cash. For example, the Optoma NuForce BE Free 5 for only $99, or the Sony WF-SP700N Noise-Cancelling Earbuds for a price of $89. Both of these products do the same functions, at a lower price, but at a lower quality.

Secondly, the charge on the AirPods do not last very long, and it seems like I am always running to plug them back in, effectively defeating their purpose as wireless headphones. I charge them around once every 2 days, and I only use the AirPods for maybe an hour to two hours a day. This can be very frustrating when I am on the run, and I have no time to charge the AirPods.

Overall, the Apple AirPods are a very good product, and they have a lot of significant features that make them superior to any off-brand product, but of course they come at a significant price, which some users may question. My everyday life of listening to videos, music, podcasts and more has been greatly improved due to this product, and I would recommend it to anyone who has an Apple product.
