The movies. You think of getting together with family and friends and spending over two hours snacking on overpriced buttery popcorn and soda. 

 And The Movie Tavern by Marcus Theaters is no different. But unlike other Marcus theaters, the Movie Tavern is unique in the way that it provides an overall better experience with more food and better, bigger seats.

Right as I walked up to the front door I notice a modern movie theater with Bright, trendy LED lights. There is a bar when you walk to the right and the ticket counter off to the left. And beyond that were the concessions. 

As I purchased my tickets and walked toward the concessions you can immediately noticed how unclean and dirty this area is. That night I noticed spilled popcorn and drinks haven’t been cleaned up from earlier in the afternoon.

They also have a different approach to the way that they do concessions. They have all of the normal movie theater concessions that you would expect but also a full menu of different food for anyone’s taste. I got chicken tenders and fries that tasted warmed up somewhat soggy and not fresh as you would expect at prices of nearly $20. The area where you get your drinks was the dirtiest area of them all with popcorn all over the floor and a soda machine that would be low on soda syrup, or it would be the wrong drink.

As you continue on into the theater you can immediately notice the over-the-top loudness of the speakers. One thing that is nice about this theater was that they bring your food other than popcorn that you order from the concession stand to your seat in the theater. Most of the workers were very nice and make up for any mistakes that they make such as when they brought us the wrong food, they quickly made up for it.

The seats were very comfortable but many of the seats were unclean and had crumbs of popcorn and other food in the cracks of the seat. Parts of my seat were also sticky due to spilled soda or other drinks. But the seat Overall was very comfortable and having a lot of room between you and the person next to you is nice. You have a lot of room in front of you and you don’t have to move if someone needs to get past your seat.

Overall the theater is pretty nice, and the addition of more food options compared to other movie theaters was also very nice. I think that the theater could use some touching up on management and training of the staff to take more care of the cleanliness of the theater. They also need to either rethink the prices of their food or get fresher higher-quality food.
