The upcoming 2024 NFL Draft is going to be a very interesting class. This draft is full of immense talent as seen in college football games all throughout the year. I am excited to see the current prospects enter into the league and start their journey in becoming stars. First off is the consensus top prospect out of USC, Caleb Williams. Caleb Williams is a generational talent, being that he won the 2022 Heisman (award given to top player in college football), and performing at a high level this year while his team was not constructed well around him. I particularly enjoyed watching his first year at Oklahoma University, and I am very excited to see what team will end up drafting him. With the Chicago Bears having the first pick in the draft, their organization needs to make a big decision on whether or not they want to move from their current quarterback Justin Fields or trade that pick for other key pieces. Marvin Harrison Jr the wide receiver out of the Ohio State University. Showed his exceptional skill as a wide receiver throughout his college football career. His agility, route-running, and catching ability make him a promising talent. Harrison Jr’s potential suggests a bright future in the NFL, and his performance reflects the legacy of his Hall of Fame father, Marvin harrison.
Drake Maye out of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is the projected 2nd quarterback off the draft board. This man has been making highlight reel throws for the last few years. The bad thing about picking him in the draft is that he plays in the ACC, which isn’t one of the top conferences in college football. Yet, the ACC has had a history of producing top tier talent, so it’s not something that overly concerns me. That brings us to the 3rd projected quarterback to get selected in the draft, which is Jayden Daniels. The 2023 Heisman award winner with an unbelievable season where he threw for 40 touchdowns with only  4 interceptions (a ridiculously impressive feat). This season the whole of the LSU team disappointed many fans, but Jayden Daniels certainly didn't. Before this year I didn't even know if he would be a top 3 round pick, but now everyone knows how good he truly really is.
Brock Bowers, the tight end on the back to back champions Georgia Bulldogs is now declaring for the draft. As soon as he stepped foot on the field and received his first few catches, everyone who analyzed him pegged him as a consensus top 15 pick in the NFL draft. Now it’s his time to officially declare and I'm excited to see him play in the NFL and do what he does best. The second wideout that is expected to go is Malik Nabers out of LSU. Teammates with Jayden Daniels, Malik Nabers formed an impressive duo with Daniels that were known for their craftiness and explosiveness. Nabers ran for 1,570 yards this year, which was the second most in the nation. Nabers can do it all, his speed is what bewilders people, but he also has very good hands in terms of catching and holding on to the ball. I think he has a real shot at being a top receiver in the NFL, but that is to be determined.
Rome Odunze out of Washington has gotten everyone's attention as of late with his team having placed runner up in the National Championship. He is the third wideout projected to get picked in the draft, as he led the nation in receiving distance with 1,640 yards on the most explosive offensive team this year in college football. This class is stacked full of potential stars, so if he was to have been drafted one year earlier he would most likely have been the first receiver taken. That brings us to his teammate Michael Penix Jr. Another quarterback that nobody wants to see fail in the NFL since his first two seasons were marked by tragedy. His first 2 seasons in college were both ended by torn acl’s in both of his knees (a year apart in terms of when he suffered them). Afterwards, he transferred from Indiana to Washington and led his team to the 2nd seed in the nation, beating their longtime rival Oregon twice, and winning a high stakes playoff game. Unfortunately, Michigan University’s defense was too much for the Penix Jr’s led offense to handle. But national trophy or not, fans can look back on this season as a Cinderella story full of huge successes.
In conclusion the draft is going to be an interesting one. Lots of talent in this class compared to others. And there are a lot of people that were unnamed such as the offensive linemen, Olu Fashanu from Penn State, Joe Alt from Notre Dame, and JC Latham from Alabama, who are  players that will most likely get picked among the first 20 selections. Also, other notable college stars that are not projected in the first round such as Bo Nix from Oregon University, JJ McCarthy from Michigan University, and Blake Corum also from Michigan University. There are also way more players in this draft class that can make big impacts in the major league. I can spend all day talking about them.  Looking to the future of the NFL, fans can be excited for more spectacular plays from a rising class full of talent and heart.
