12/5: The Yankees are in a very valuable spot right now. After finishing the season with an 82-80 record and missing the playoffs, set them up well for the offseason to make some moves. In the offseason, improving their offense is key. They’ve already made their big move by trading for young superstar Juan Soto while getting rid of three pitchers and one catcher. Juan Soto joining the team gives everyone motivation for next season. He is one of the best hitters in  the league and he is getting paired up with the best hitter in the league Aaron Judge. This will be interesting, but I still think they need to do more. They need more contact hitters in the lineup that can help them score more runs and win games. Since they lost a lot of pitching they need more pitchers to do well behind 2023 AL CY Young winner Gerrit Cole. Their bullpen is a little shaken up but if they keep doing smart trades they will be in a good place to start the 2024 season. Also more notable players to remember are Jasson Dominquez, last year's rookie sensation will be back around mid September which is a little more than halfway through the season. Nestor Cortes, starting pitcher for the Yankees, was hurt last year. After his 2021 breakout year, he hasn’t stayed healthy. If he stays healthy I think it will be huge for the Yankees because he is someone who can scrap through 6-7 innings if you need him to.

Another pitcher that would be ideal for the Yankees to pick up this offseason would be Yoshinobu Yamamoto. The Japan superstar has been lighting it up in the Japanese pro league and will make his decision this winter.

A week later: The Yankees have had an interesting off season so far signing a couple players, getting rid of a couple and trying to trade. This has been a better offseason than the past couple years. Brian Cashman is finally starting to not be brain dead. After not signing Yamamoto, there are still a couple of options left. Jordan Montgomery from the championship winning Rangers, Dylan Cease from the White Sox, and Blake Snell, the defending NL CY Young winner. Last season Jordan Montgomery was good until the playoffs where he was even better. He dominated the playoffs and finished 3-1 in the playoffs with a 2.90 ERA. Dylan Cease is an elite pitcher but struggled last season finishing with a 7-9 record with a 4.58 ERA. Finally, the lefty, Blake Snell, 2023 NL CY Young winner, would be a good fit in the yankees rotation along with Gerrit Cole. The Yankees would have the first team that has two defending CY Young winners in 34 years. Blake Snell finished with a 14-9 record with a 2.25 ERA. Snell has also showed interest in wanting to play with the Yankees. He would be the ideal pick, but the Yankees want to go for Dylan Cease right now instead. For what reason? A couple factors can go into this. First, the money portion. Snell would be a lot more money than Cease after the big year he had. Second, The Yankees already have two lefties in the starting rotation. Maybe they think two is enough and want a strong right hander to back up Gerrit Cole. Montgomery is also a lefty which will cost them less money than for Snell. If they get one of these guys then it would be good. If they don’t get any at all then it’s not good because they are the frontrunners to get at least one of them. Who would you like to see in a Yankee uniform?
