The epicenter of not just football, but sports and the domain of success for sixty six years has been Lambeau Field; home of the Green Bay Packers. Hall of fame play and noteworthy moments have captivated the lives of fans. The unwavering support of the passionate fan base brings a desolate Lambeau Field to life come game time. Compared to other stadiums in the NFL, Lambeau Field is a slice of history like no other that has left an indelible mark. It has a discernible appearance in the venue of sports and the attention it brings each year is invigorating to the hushed, livestock town of Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Lambeau Field is very unique, in that it resides in a very small town known for drinking just as well as football. (Green Bay is the #1 most drunk city in America according to 24/7 Wall Street). Green Bay is the oldest city in Wisconsin, harboring just over one-hundred thousand people. Quarterback of the Chicago Bears, Justin Fields prompted controversy in Green Bay by stating, “there is not much else to do in Green Bay except watch football.” However, tourism has contributed greatly to the success of Green Bay’s economy, boosting it to forty three and a half million dollars in local taxes in 2018. An assortment of events and popular tourist attractions grace Green Bay, offering tourists a tremendous amount of entertainment. Green Bay is small in size, but it is imperative to not be deluded from the grand scale of activities to embark on. From tranquil wildlife sanctuaries, to bustling casinos and “titletown” itself; Green Bay has a great deal to offer that should not deter one from the experience. The lights shine the brightest during football season, and casinos and nature reserves are not the main sight to see. Lambeau Field has history prevalent all across Green Bay. During the summer, football is gone, but not forgotten. Fans can go to training camp and enjoy watching the offense and defense at work. Packer nation always shows out with flags that adorn each house. It is vital to get to know the town that has hosted history for so long.

Knowing the stadium is just as, if not more important than knowing the team that suits up every sunday. Lambeau Field delivers on the experience of being inside the NFL’s oldest stadium to date. The lights are eight times brighter than before, the grass is meticulously mowed to perfection, and the engrossing features are nothing to sneer at. Lambeau has over 72,515 seats and the Field itself is a blend of 100% Kentucky bluegrass. Why mention the material of the Field? Stadiums across the NFL prefer a different array of materials used when designing the Field. Some stadiums prefer grass, others prefer turf, and some stadiums prefer a hybrid, synthesized material like Lambeau. Players have sustained many injuries, specifically to the ACL when playing on artificial turf. 0.035% was the rate at which injuries were sustained during the 2022 NFL season, while injuries sustained on artificial turf were found at a whopping rate of 0.048%. Lambeau Field was not prone to hosting many injuries during that span, proving that the history of Lambeau has been just as important as the safety of the players. The flagship attraction of Lambeau is the legendary 25,000 square foot hall of fame. The hall of fame boasts over 77 exhibits, 15 new videos, 753 artifacts, and over 900 photos to enthrall fans and football enthusiasts alike. Leaving without a souvenir? The idea is preposterous, considering the Packers pro shop hosts over 2,000 souvenirs which proudly reside in the most successful team run retail operation in the NFL. The Packers dominance on the Field has been just as dominant as the interior of the legendary Lambeau Field.

Lambeau Field must be prioritized above all else for any sports fan. Despite fans having to indulge the malicious winters and dismal, heartbreaking playoff losses that arrive in January; Lambeau Field remains true to its roots and history that have graced the NFL for so long. The black and white town of Green Bay is not a hyperbolic, lavish city adorned with dopamine fueled landmarks. However, the serenity of the town and the stadium that comes to life every sunday is very special and something to not take for granted. Lambeau Field is one of a kind, just like every fan that seeks out this distinctive landmark.
