This book is based on true events and was written by Lynda Blackmon Lowery. He story is about her fourteen
year old self marching to the capital of Alabama in 1965. She is marching in Selma Voting Rights March. After
surviving the Bloody Sunday and being in jail for nine times not for crimes, but because she was fighting for
freedom and against segregation and discrimination. My favorite part in the book is when she loses hope and
strength in the march. Lynda does not believe in herself anymore and was about to stop, when she met Jim
Letherer. He was a white man who lost his leg in the war, and when he walked up to her he said that he is
going to die for he if anyone will hurt her. This memoir is about how strong people are when unite and how it is
important to stand up for what you believe in. You are going to love this book if you like reading historical fiction
and stories about how people overcomes the invincible.
