This is a book about a 13 year old girl who lives with two brothers and her mom and dad. Her name is Koly and she gets married to a boy she had never seen. She has to marry that person and her parents has to pay them for taking care of her. His name was Hari and he was 16 and he has a little sister.

       He later on died in the Varanasi river. They would rather him die in holy water than dying in his bed. They wanted his ashes to be in holy water where others had been.

       The real reason she married him was because his parents needed money to pay for his very bad sickness of the flu. Her parents never knew thats what it was for. 

       This book issad becaus her parents were already poor and they basically paid for his sickness and he died so Koly didn´t even get to know him and she mostly had to sneak in his room to see him because she wasn´t allowed in  there.
